Monika Vasili

Ms. Vasili has lived in Winston-Salem for 24 years and is originally from Albania. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Tirana (Albania) and a Master's Degree in Education Leadership from Gardner Webb University. Before joining North as an administrator, she taught Physics, AP Physics, Math, and CTE in WS/FCS. She was a Teacher of the Year finalist for the district in 2012, and Teacher of the Year for Atkins High School in 2015.  She served for three years as district PD facilitator for "Classroom management" while in "Teacher Academy"

Ms. Vasili has been the AP of the year at North for three years straight: 20-21; 21-22 and 22-23

Here is Ms. Vasili's philosophy on education:

"From my experiences both as a learner and an educator, I firmly believe that an educator who is passionate about the subject material can make learners passionate about it as well. Enthusiasm can motivate learners to learn more about a particular subject and encourage them to pursue their interests through further education or as a possible career. Furthermore, learners who are excited about the course material will enjoy learning, rather than viewing it as a dull or arduous task. I believe that education should teach learners the skills they can use in all the areas of their lives, not just in the classroom."

Greetings Vikings!!! I am a proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a concentration in Business Communication.  In 2011, I earned my History Teaching Certification, while I coached Football and taught History in Guilford County Schools for 10 years.  In 2012 I was named a distinguished graduate of Liberty University where I earned my Master of Education in Teaching and Learning.  In 2018, I earned my Post Masters Certificate in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

In 2018, I returned to Smith High where I served as the Dean of Students from 2018 to 2020.  While at Smith High, I was able to lead stakeholders to reduce suspensions by 35% which increased instruction via restorative and meditation practices.  During the 2020-21 school year, I served as an Assistant Principal at Davie County High School in Mocksville, NC where I coached teachers in Hybrid Instruction. In 2021, I joined the WSFCS District.  Since serving in the district, I was named an Assistant Principal of the Year and member of the Appalachian State University School of Education Principal Partnership.

I strongly believe that every student can learn, and every teacher should be effective and impactful which is my educational philosophy.  As a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated, I strive to serve, lead youth and the community through excellence and achievement.

My Mottos is “To inspire, Empower, and Motivate a generation one student at a time!”
