Learning in the Library

In Kindergarten and first grade, students focus on learning:

  • The parts of a book

  • Library book care

  • Differentiating between fiction and nonfiction

  • How to be responsible and stay safe online

In second through fifth grades, students work on learning:

  • How to use our online library system with ebooks, audiobooks, and read-along books.

  • The basics of copyright and fair use laws and how to follow them responsibly.

  • How to be a safe and responsible digital citizen who evaluates sources critically.

  • To complete research projects that increase in requirements each year.

Book Fairs

Each year we have two books fairs; one in the fall and one in the spring. These raise money for the library so that I can buy books that children will enjoy and that are contemporary and represent our children.

Videos at School

WS/FCS School Board Policy 6161.3 sets out the guidelines for viewing videos at school.
