Vision

Speas Global Elementary School is on a journey to prepare students for success in an interconnected world. In a Global School, achievement means providing the competencies and skills to all students so they can collaborate effectively in a global economy. Speas Global offers a spotlight on learning an additional language and making international connections to reinforce instruction. Inquiry learning strategies develop critical-thinking, problem-solving, writing and presentation skills. Collaborating with our welcoming and caring staff, students learn in a community-oriented atmosphere that offers an array of learning activities. In addition, corporate and faith communities give a strong partnership to our school’s learning community.

Adopted April 2017

Speas Global’s School Improvement Goals:

  • To increase English Language Arts achievement by 10%

  • To increase Mathematics achievement by 10%

  • To increase Science Achievement by 10%

As an Authorized IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), we also promote the IB Mission Statement:

The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

As a part of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, we also promote Six Core Values:

Student-Centered: We focus on the needs of every child.

Accountability: We take responsibility for and reflect on our impact on student outcomes.

Collaboration: We work together to support each other’s efforts to meet every student’s needs.

Equity: We honor diversity by addressing barriers to success for every student.

High Expectations: We challenge ourselves to inspire every student’s pursuit of greatness.

Integrity: We align our actions, beliefs and values to support every student.
